Q: What is the right age to start dancing? A: It is never too early or too late to start dancing. Just have a look at these "toddler dancing", "never underestimate an old gal". We have kids classes starting from 3 years old. If your child can follow directions and the parent is willing to help, you can start as early as you'd like. For the older folks.... NO LIMITS! :) Q: What is the difference between American Style and International Style? A: American Style is most popular in the United States, whereas the International Style, which is also known as the English Style, is danced through the rest of the world. The American Style Smooth dances, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, and Viennese Waltz, experience more freedom and expression. They may be danced in closed or open position, allowing for additional innovative tricks and creating arm and hand styling. The International Style Standard Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep and Viennese Waltz are danced only in closed position. The technique for both styles is similar. The American Style Rhythm dances, which are Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Samba, Mambo, Bolero, and Merengue, have a greater variety of patterns, and are more suited for social dancing. The International Style Latin, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Paso Doble and Jive are more discipline, and technical. The technique is different between the styles and changes throughout the years. American Style dancing has always been more popular for social dancing in the United States. Q: How long before the wedding should you start taking classes? A: The earlier, the better. This gives you the time to learn your routine without rushing, practice, and feel comfortable dancing it. Please try to give it at least few months. On the other hand, we had a couple come in a few hours before their wedding, and we were able to help them. Q: How many classes do we need to complete the "First Dance" choreography? A: It depends on how fast the individual learns and how much time you have before the wedding. Usually 5 lessons is a good choice, but you can do less or more. Q: Do I need a partner? A: No, you don't need a partner to take dance classes in our studio. If you choose to take individual classes, you will have a professional instructor as a partner. In a group class, students will have the opportunity to rotate and experience dancing with different partners. Q: What are the business hours? A: We open 7 days a week, M-F 10:am to 10:pm, Sat 10:am to 4:pm and Sun by appointment only. Q: Do I need any special type of shoes? We encourage you to carry your dancing shoes with you and change into them before the class, especially if it is raining or snowing. Wet, damp or dirty shoes are not allowed on the dance floor to prevent damage to the dance floor and special dance shoes. Q: What type of clothes do I need to wear? A: For adults students, there are no restrictions, just wear something comfortable. Kids should wear black outfits for practice. Q: Do you participate in competitions, performances, etc.? A: All our students will have the opportunity to participate in any of these events. |
